Fishing

Dolly Varden

  • Fish in the area are sea run dooly varden that average 7-10 pounds and may weigh over 20 pounds. Keep in mind this is an exploratory trip into an area that is rarely if ever fished and there is very little information about. Typical fish on other neighboring rivers measure 24-28 inches, however, our goal is to help each guest land a 30 plus inch dolly varden. We have selected dates during the historic peak of the run. As we encounter waves of dolly varden moving to their spawning ground fishing will be fast and furious. Between pods of fish moving in fishing will be more of a hunt, looking for larger fish in holding water.

Grayling

  • The grayling average 16-20 inches, some measuring over 22 inches. Grayling are very old fish, in the Arctic large grayling might be over 30 years in age. They love to rise to the dry and are a great sport fish. 3-5 weight rods are perfect for grayling.

Salmon

  • Chum are the most abundant salmon in Northern rivers. Most fish are in the 8-10 pound range although there are much larger fish in the 20 pound class. There are often a few sockeye salmon and silvers as we move downriver. Salmon are aggressive and provide a lot of excitement when we encounter large numbers of fish.
